📖 Bound to Shift: Book Club by the Shift Sisters

There’s something magical about reading in rhythm with the moon. Bound to Shift is the Shift Sisters’ soulful, full moon book club experience launching January 2026, and you’re invited to join, free of charge.

What to expect with the Shift Sisters Podcast Bound to Shift Book Club:

The plan is simple and meaningful: READ. LISTEN. CHAT. Each month, we’ll read the chapter aligned with the moon’s cycle, listen to the Book Chat episode published before our meeting, and come together to connect and share insights. Join us for this enriching and connected experience as we journey through the book together.

Book club virtual meetings are hosted once a month, each aligned with the chapter and its corresponding monthly moon, allowing us to journey through the book in harmony with natural cycles. In December, we will honor the 13th Moon Mother with two special meetings; the last chapter will not have a pre-recorded episode. Instead, we will come together to wrap up the book collectively.

All Book Chat episodes will be published live on the Monday prior to each meeting, giving everyone ample time to listen and reflect before we gather.

Our virtual gatherings take place on specifically selected Sundays from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM Central Standard Time (CST) to accommodate members joining from various time zones and countries. Make sure to see the dates and mark your calendars. Meeting links, updates, and all related information will be published exclusively within the Bookclubs App - Bound to Shift group.

This book blends Indigenous wisdom with practical spirituality rooted in Native American traditions. It offers timeless cultural teachings and ancestral stories that invite readers to reflect on personal growth, community, and connection to the natural world. Rather than following a traditional narrative, it provides thoughtful insights and tools for self-awareness and transformation that resonate with today’s desire for meaningful, grounded perspectives on identity and wellbeing.

📖 What is the book's style?

About the Author

Jamie Sams was a storyteller, a visionary, and a bridge-builder between the sacred and the seen. Best known for her transformative book The 13 Original Clan Mothers, Jamie offered readers a path of introspection, connection to the Earth, and feminine wisdom through monthly archetypes that explore our cycles, our emotions, and our deep inner knowing.

Born in the 1950s, Jamie was of mixed ancestry, French and Seneca heritage, and raised primarily by her maternal grandmother, who played a key role in shaping her spiritual perspective. Though she was not an enrolled member of a Native American tribe, Jamie spent time learning from elders and spiritual teachers, incorporating oral traditions, teachings, and her own visions into her body of work.

So, what is The 13 Original Clan Mothers, exactly?

While often embraced by readers as a deeply spiritual guide, it’s important to know that The 13 Original Clan Mothers is a fictional framework, rooted in Jamie’s personal visions, intuitive experiences, and reverence for Earth-based wisdom. It is not a direct transcript of any single tribal belief system. Rather, it is a modern mythic map, a feminine medicine wheel meant to awaken deeper personal reflection, seasonal awareness, and archetypal wisdom.

A Note on Cultural Integrity

We believe in honoring voices, stories, and traditions with transparency. Jamie Sams did not claim to be a tribal elder or a cultural authority. She wove this book from her spiritual journey, an offering inspired by, but not representative of, any one Indigenous tradition.

In a world eager for reconnection, The 13 Original Clan Mothers gives many women a place to start to awaken. To slow down. To listen. To reflect. To re-member their sacred rhythms.

And that’s what we’re doing here at Bound to Shift, exploring the medicine of these archetypes as tools for personal transformation, conscious community, and soulful sisterhood.

So, as we journey with the Clan Mothers, connect with their real-world resonance, we honor Jamie Sams for courageously sharing her spiritual creativity with the world.
